Welcome Ghouls, Boils, and Foolish Mortals!
What the heck is Killer K8’s Haunted House Dates, you ask? Well, step right up and let me explain…
Hey y’all, Kaitlyn here. The concept for Killer K8’s Haunted House Dates was born from my love of all things Halloween, the horror genre, and my enthusiastic passion for attending haunted attractions (and dragging victims along with me). Given my frequent attendance at numerous spooky events, usually with my partner Danny (or Dreadful Danny as you will come to know him) in tow, I felt we needed some place to store those memories as a way to revisit what we loved, loathed, and what genuinely sent shivers down our spines. This led us to the idea of sharing these experiences with all of you! I wanted something that would primarily focus on haunted attractions, but open ended enough to allow space for horror film and novel reviews, spooky themed vegan food and drinks, and just cute date ideas with your partners or friends. Danny will usually be the one to review with me, but there may be times when other folks are my haunted house dates!
Now, you might wonder why a blog, and who still reads blogs? Well, the answer is you—hopefully + a few! I will primarily be the author of these posts because I love to write and take photos, and I missed having a place to put those things. It just feels natural to me to have it be a written review site with supplemental photography! We will also do short form video on TikTok and Reels, so be sure to follow us on socials to see what we have brewing. Of course our primary focus is to have fun with it, but we already have so many ideas of different avenues this may take, more on that at a later date.
Danny and I both have such fond memories of Halloween and haunted events because of our moms, all the way back when we were just kids. (Shout out moms for giving us such warm and creepy cute memories to look back on!) While we may both have a long and loved history with Halloween (you can read more about that in our About Us), we do approach haunts quite differently. People often think that I must be brave and rarely scared for as many haunted attractions as I attend, but nay nay. I am but a bag of anxiety waiting to be jump scared at any moment. Our differing levels of fear and startle responses prompted the idea of illustrating our varying bravery levels, an endearing touch we hope our readers find as charming as we do…
‘How will you review the haunts’, you ask?
We will always write up a detailed account of our full experience which will include photos and/or videos, and we will always be honest about our experience. All opinions are our own! Given Kaitlyn and Danny's distinct approaches to haunting, each write-up will showcase a unique perspective. Depending on your preferences, one viewpoint might resonate more profoundly. We hope our experiences can serve as a valuable resource for both novices of the eerie and seasoned spooky enthusiasts alike.
We will review both the overall haunted attraction as well as individual houses/mazes/scare zones. We also want to provide a TLDR at the bottom of each post for those that aren’t as interested in the nitty gritty details and just want the scores. Those score cards will look something like:
